A
few minutes here may help you get the most of the rest
of the year. Where has it gone? Many of you are
finishing out the calendar year and some are starting
a new fiscal year. November and December are always
interesting regardless of what business you are in.
If
what you do touches the retail sector, this is it -
Showtime, the craziest time of the year. If you are
in sales, many of you are driving to finish out the
year strong, close what you have in your pipeline and
make "President's Club". If you are in management, your
challenge can be to keep your people focused as we approach
the busiest holiday season of the year.
My
advice to stay switched on is to maintain clear priorities
in business and at home. Now is the time to take a few
minutes to create a plan to have a tremendous last two
months of the year. What do you want to accomplish?
What do you want to do - what will help get you switched
on? Be specific in terms of the areas of your life where
setting clear standards would be smart:
-
# times to exercise - maintain/lose weight
-
savings/income if in sales/budget for holiday gifts
-
fun holiday events/plays/concerts to attend
-
fun things to do with the family/you and your spouse/kids
-
special ways to show your employees you appreciate their
efforts this year (maybe bringing in a great speaker
for a kick off meeting!)
These
are just a few ideas. Now is the time to make a commitment
to take could care of yourself and your family the next
60 days. I do not believe it is a coincidence that "flu
season" annually begins in January just after Thanksgiving,
Hanukah, Christmas, New Years etc. It is typically when
people eat more, exercise less, party more, get less
sleep and are under more stress.
A
few minutes to write down and get clear on your outcomes
the next 60 days will help you accomplish more and have
a better experience!
